This work represents marriage – the union of two individuals in love with and committed to each other. The work incorporates Islamic patterns and the sacred archway. The archway is a symbolic reminder to recognize matters of the heart in one’s actions toward another.
The knot in this work represents the coming together of opposites. It is based on the pentagram and five-fold symmetry, a combination the embodies the Golden mean which also symbolizes regeneration and perfection.
Historically, the the knot has often represented Marriage — the term “tying the knot” is associated with the marriage ceremony and the commitment that two individuals make to become one together.
